    Sites Support Technician


    The Site Support Technician (SST) provides support for Onsite Asset Management, Warehouse Support, and Site Services in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. 

    The Site Support Technician performs these activities under the direction of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Program Policies, Safety Policies, and Security Policies, meeting all requirements for quality and quantity of work.

    The SST is responsible for the data integrity of all assets on the data center floor.

    The SST will receive and create work orders in a standard ticketing system (ServiceNow), providing clear, timely, and appropriate customer communications and ensuring customer service standards are achieved.

    The SST will assist the Site Services team with installs, moves, and de-commissions of hardware including cabinets, shelves, power strips, rails, fiber/copper/other cables and cable management, servers, storage, printers, and other devices in the Data Center.

    The SST will follow Standard Operating Procedures for the oversight of vendors in the Data Center environment, and will ensure vendors meet all requirements for safety, quality, and asset integrity in the Data Center.


    Primary Responsibilities

    • Shipping & Receiving tasks, including working in software to receive assets, and using scanners to manage asset data.
    • Reports and documents any changes to records associated with assets and stock items.
    • Record keeping such as shipping & receiving logs, packing list scanning/filing, item stock levels, etc.
    • IT Operations Site Services tasks, including server installation, maintenance, scrubbing/degaussing, and decommissions, under the oversight of the Site Services team.
    • Inventory Control and quality audits to validate data integrity and resolve discrepancies.
    • Asset tagging & scanning of new hardware.
    • Escort/Chaperone vendors to insure Data Center policies and standard operational security procedures are followed.
    • Provide physical access support for all access request to the Data Center space as per physical access policies for vendors.
    • Escort of temporary visitors for approved activities within the DC space/modules.
    • Preparation of shipments for lease return, asset disposal, or other needs
    • Populate the retained standard Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM) records such as shipping / receiving logs per SOPs.
    • Creation of Bills of Lading.
    • Handles systems, racks, cables, and other various equipment and components.
    • Coordinates activities with team members and other internal departments.
    • Ensures cleanliness of the data center, warehouse, and other storage areas.
    • Performs routine audits, spot-checks, and inventory cycle counts to ensure data integrity and optimal stock levels.
    • Audits off-system parts and components.
    • Reports and files damage claims.
    • Processes RMAs.
    • Scrubs and/or Degausses disk drives.
    • Works as directed on other projects assigned by lead, supervisor or other management.


    Good to Have, Not Required:

    • Diploma/ Degree in Engineering or IT related discipline.
    • Knowledge of process and quality management strategies such as Six Sigma, 5S Methodology, Kaizen, and Total Quality Management (TQM).
    • Experience with scanners and inventory management software
    • ITIL related certifications
    • DC related certifications (e.g., CDCP, CDCS, CDCE or equivalent)
    • IT certifications such as MCSE or equivalent
    • Certifications on Cabling standard or equivalent
    • CCNA
