  • Overview

    A Principal Transportation Analyst will provide insight into transportation operational elements to secure cost-effective, global logistics and transportation services. They will provide oversight of service provider performance. They will have responsibility to build collaborative business relationships with functional stakeholders, service providers, Supplier Management and business partners. They will be engaged in complex analysis activities in projects in the transportation and supply chain areas. They will ensure all data of the inbound & reverse international shipments are properly reflected in the company diverse complex system with accurate financial and operational information to provide tracking and impact at the operational line level. They will also support domestic transportation in areas such as vendor procurement, service level metrics, and KPI development and review.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Analytical review of commercial invoices for international transportation costs, including ocean freight, drayage, and assessorial charges to understand impact to the company's global operational costs.
    • Makes recommendations to management based on analysis
    • Develop process improvements to improve efficiencies and/or reduce spend
    • Partnering with Trade and Compliance on trade attributes for company inventory.
    • Communicate with partners, suppliers, and brokers on opportunities for improvements in accuracy and other areas as needed
    • Reverse logistics for domestic and International shipments. Shipping parts from the global sites to the central warehouse and scheduling carriers along with SAP details for international and domestic transportation including set up, rates, routing, tracking reporting, etc.
    • Process consolidated transmission file to bring international shipments into SAP
    • Management and Liaison with International customs for paper work, licensing issues for the international shipments.
    • Creating Shipping lanes for Direct and Indirect shipments to facilitate virtual movements of parts in Oracle.
    • Provide analytical support for supply chain projects and senior management, as needed
    • Engaged in a variety of internal process reviews and support services including freight bill audit, transportation service provider performance evaluations and related activities.
    • Investigates and performs root cause analysis on complex logistics initiatives and recommends business solutions relating to transportation and logistics practices, processes and procedures.
    • Develops logistics reports and presentations for business units, programs and stakeholders.
    • Analyzes carrier performance data for cycle time, costs and business process review
    • Assist in developing and monitoring improvements for meeting Client “on-time-in-full” requirements.
    • Scheduling, Continuous Improvement, Inventory Management, Capacity Planning, Data Analysis, Forecasting, Facilities Planning and Design, Oracle ERP, SAP ERP, Microsoft Office Suite
    • Collaborate with finance/accounting to resolve payment and reporting issues
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • 5 years of experience in operations support; vendor management; specifically, in transportation preferred
    • Must have industry knowledge of freight logistics modes and service levels.
    • Must possess an understanding of International Logistics Processes and documentation
    • Experience in Metrics and Measurement, Production and Inventory Control Systems, Supply Chain & Logistics, Logistics Distribution systems
    • Experience in Production & Operations Management and Project Management
    • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt qualification is a plus
    • Past experience in category management relative to freight industry is a plus
    • Proven analytical capabilities for gathering and reviewing large amounts of data; must understand the drivers of variance that will be complex with changes in mix, destination, source, carrier, and rate changes
    • Experience in Tasks tool, Everest, Oracle, SERF, Microsoft Office; Advanced Excel skills required
    • SAP (or other integrated ERP) experience strongly preferred

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s degree required (Master's preferred)
    • APICS or CSCMP preferred; related operations management courses helpful
    • You have a Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Supply Chain or Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or other concentrations with heavy quantitative focus strongly preferred
