Milestone Technologies is seeking an experienced and highly-successful product development and technology strategy leader to fill our Vice President, Chief Product and Technology Officer role. This coveted role is responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving Milestone Technologies’ Services Portfolio.  The Services Portfolio defines Milestone’s commercial offerings, which enable us to deliver differentiated and outstanding services to our customers.  The CPTO acts as the main point of contact for Milestone Business Service Owners and staff on all issues related to service strategy, development, methodologies, tools and technologies.  In addition, this leader is responsible for defining the set of technologies and partners necessary to create a robust and differentiated Services Portfolio.


As the leader for Milestone Technologies’ Services capability, you will be responsible for crafting and delivering a holistic and strategic approach to creating a world-class Services Portfolio.  The goal is to ensure Milestone can provide its customers with a commercially compelling set of services to meet key customer business needs.  The Service Portfolio strategy will outline the specific steps necessary to build out organizational capability as well as measure progress.  Major elements of the strategy will include the composition of the portfolio into key business services; required capabilities and whether these capabilities are delivered by Milestone, technology partners or complementary service partners; and an implementation plan to build out the portfolio.  In addition, as the portfolio matures, this role will be responsible for facilitating quarterly portfolio reviews designed to judge the success of the overall portfolio as well as individual service offerings across multiple dimensions such as customer satisfaction, financial returns, and other defined metrics.


You will engage at a variety of levels, including the Milestone C-Suite, throughout Milestone customer-facing teams and across multiple functional groups to implement service development plans with these key stakeholders.  In addition, you will engage with key leaders from external technology providers as well as complimentary service providers to develop a world-class ecosystem for Milestone Technologies’ Services Portfolio.


To be successful in this position, you must possess a consultative approach to leading development of the Service Portfolio.  It is vital to be able to influence and manage key Operations and Functional Area leaders as well as those of our current and potential Partners.  You must have the ability to clearly and effectively present new ideas and concepts.  It is also critical to be able to balance time and effort between longer term strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations.  Industry experience in consulting, professional, or managed services companies is a plus. 



  • Develop a comprehensive Services Portfolio strategic plan for Milestone
  • Ensure organizational buy-in to the Services Portfolio plan and create a realistic but aggressive implementation plan
  • Create a robust Services build-out methodology including state-of-the-art approaches, tools, techniques and collateral materials leveraging industry best practices and other sources
  • Develop and implement a Technology Strategy to complement the Services Portfolio, selecting appropriate Technology Partners and complementary Services Partners, as necessary
  • Provide coaching and guidance to Business Service Owners on development, implementation and improvement of Services
  • Develop metrics to gauge the success of Milestone’s Services Portfolio efforts, reporting to senior management on a quarterly basis
  • Build and manage a small team to assist with the total scope of work, concentrating on Technology Strategy, Partnerships, Product/Service Development Methodology and Service Portfolio Management
  • Assist Sales & Marketing, as appropriate, with Business Development efforts


  • Demonstrated success with IT Services leadership at a mid-size company or larger (>1K employees); this success must include development of multiple new services
  • Possess 15+ years of total work experience with at least 8 years in technology leadership roles and 4+ years in a services management capacity
  • Deep understanding of current IT Infrastructure technologies, including cloud, network, virtualization, ITSM tools and other IT infrastructure management tools.
  • Knowledge of and exposure to Services Portfolio Management techniques, including Services Strategy, Portfolio Evaluation, and Services Measurement
  • Knowledge of key trends affecting the IT Services industry such as intelligent automation, outsourcing/offshoring strategies, and evolution of ‘as a Service’ techniques
  • Knowledge of IT industry best practices/frameworks such as ITIL, COBIT, etc.
  • Skilled with presentation and process/architecture development tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, Orbus, Sparx, etc.
  • Experience formulating and negotiating agreements with external partners
  • Pragmatic approach to Technology Strategy development, focusing on commercial relevance and immediate applicability to customer situations versus a “blue sky thinking” technology vision
  • Proven ability to build and lead a small, high performing team
  • Success-driven, winning attitude, and able to form solid business relationships at various levels

  • B.S. in Information Technology, Information Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or related scientific/technical field preferred; M.S. and/or MBA is a plus
